Artist Profile
County Clare-based artist and Author. Carmel’s art is a mixture of colour and texture telling a story of nature around her.
She grew up in the remote headland of Loophead peninsula in County Clare. Her immersion in the wild natural environment at Loophead, studying its flora and fauna and their behaviours on an investigative scale, have combined to lead her artistic pathway.
Carmel works organically, without pre-conception of the end image. This provides a sense of freedom from the shackles of boundaries, provided by photographs, still life, portraitures and other imagery. The mind opens itself to imagination, experimentation, colour, texture, process and thought.
Carmel’s work is a combination of mixed media, Acrylic paints and textiles to evolve creative unique paintings.
