John Dinan
Artist Profile

John Dinan is a fulltime artist from Dublin who lives and paints in County Mayo.

He has been represented in many of Ireland’s leading galleries for over forty years.

He has established himself as one of Ireland’s leading art teachers, and runs an annual programme of painting workshops in various parts of the country, including at the very popular plein air painting festivals.

His paintings reflect his interest in strong design and colours, and his work is held in corporate and private collections in many countries, including USA, France and Germany.

He paints all genres – landscape, still life, figure and portrait work, and prefers to vary his painting style to reflect his response to his subjects, which also enhances his teaching insights.

He also regularly completes commissions from private clients including mainly portraits and landscape paintings of particular places.

He has exhibited in RHA annual exhibitions, and has had solo and many group exhibitions. He has been a prize-winner in the annual Wexford Plein Air Painting festival.

As well as being a member of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club, he is also a member of The Back Lane Painters, a group of artists which was taught by the late Henry Healy RHA.
